How To Come Out of Isolation Stronger Than Before
Listen on: Apple Podcast | Spotify | Overcast | Google Podcasts
Hello, simpletons!
Although our isolation days are starting to fade behind us at this point, we’ve learned a few very precious lessons that have made us stronger than before. Is it really possible to come out of this with better connections, an awesome business network and upgraded leadership skills? Anyone with a growth mindset will tell you “YES, ABSOLUTELY”!
Are you following your passion?
If you had a dime for everytime you heard this, you’d never have to worry about money again: “Follow your passion if you want to be successful”. It might be a cliche, but it is for a reason: it’s true.
Spending the time to discover where your passion lies is one of the greatest investments you can make in life. It doesn’t come easy for everyone. In fact, these days, when we’re spoilt by choice, it might take decades to figure it out. But once you do, you can start taking firm steps towards success and stability.
With COVID-19, we’ve all been put in the same horrendous pot: we’re all forced to take desperate measures to save what we’ve worked for, but we’re also forced to question the very reasoning behind our hard work. For the lucky ones who are following their purpose, isolation and lockdowns will not shatter their work, but it might potentially improve it by pushing us outside our comfort zone.
If you haven’t discovered your own path yet, all is not lost. This is the best time to sit down and figure things out for yourself.
Be proactive, not reactive
“When you’re reactive in a business, it’s already too late” - Dorry Kordahi
Tough times can hit us anytime. The fake sense of stability we like to nurture might incline us to not be mindful of how we manage our business’ budget, for example. But make no mistake, hard times are coming sooner or later. COVID is just an example of how easily it is for the entire planet to go haywire.
If you start approaching business in a proactive manner, you won’t need to REACT too severely in tough times, because you will have a safety net which, if properly managed, will help you stay afloat. This will also offer you the financial and mental space to make better decisions and even grow despite adversity.
Forge and leverage connections
The connections you forge with people around you is one of your biggest assets, in business and in life generally. You never know what kind of impact one connection can have on your career - meeting the right person at the right time can change everything.
A global crisis like a pandemic has the power to bring people together. Since everyone is affected, everyone is somehow on equal footing. It’s easier than ever to reach out to people and check in. You can forge connections now that can grow into significant business relationships later.
